Short term project RiD2 will host 15 volunteers, and will last for 61 days (59 activities + 2 travel days), starting early September 2020. With this project Eco Center Latinovac will promote sustainable practices and offer cultural, educational and infomative public events. Volunteers can “learn through doing” and develop public speaking, natural construction, gardening, vegetarian cuisine and to learn the theory about permaculture and sustainability. Topics of the project are: promotion and education in cultural diversity , intercultural exchange (both for the wider community and for project participants), participation in Europan day of Languages and local festivals/events. Volunteers will have a chance to develop their own personal projects as well. As always, projects in Latinovac offer a taste of rural communal living, which is why, year after year, we have volunteers coming back for more.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Volunteers will be accomodated in the village (hostedy by the villagers) or ECL property. They will have access to shared room(s) with beds, a shower, washing machine and a kitchen area. During working days, Eco center will prepare 3 epic and tasty vegetarian meals. For non-working days, volunteers will receive “food money”. Also, we have garden and orchard area. Locals produce milk, eggs and, for carnivores, meat. Transport – depending on the distance calculator the travel costs are covered by grant. We will help as well. Pocket money – included by grant.
TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT
Volunteers can expect to have daily supervision in all activities, for more complex tasks, volunteers will have theoretical and demonstratonal training, supervision and enough time for preparation. Volunteers are welcome to share their skill set with one another. The project working team is dedicated to provide all the support the volunteers will need to make sure that the participant is as close as possible to his/her comfort zone during the activities.
Basic English skills and is from EU country. Candidates with any skillset, with desire and motivation to participate in events with the public, youth and children. Open to learn about sustainability and “green” topics. Still, some points are worth mentioning: Adaptable, responsible and punctual. Able to articulate his/her needs, open and polite in communication. Bonus points if you enjoy biking, hiking, outdoors in general, are a team player and looking to expand your horizons. Previous experience in volunteering is not obligatory. Personal motivation is one of the main selection criteria.
