PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project aims to build upon and expand Dragon Legion’s previous successes with community building, language learning, and development of youths through Role-Playing Games. We want to help our youth volunteers to develop their skills together in an international setting with guidance from experienced Dragon Legion youth workers. Over the last years we have grown a network of active young people across Europe and we are starting to have a local impact in many countries. We believe it is very important to keep this network active. Bringing volunteers to our headquarters in Cologne allows us to engage them intensively and focus on our three main objectives: 1. Community Building. 2. Language Learning. 3. Skills Training. Together we will use RPGs to offer young people amazing personal development opportunities through our network. Volunteers will be involved in coming up with ideas, creating new approaches and running events for young people.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Volunteers will live together as a group of 4 in an apartment in the city of Cologne. You will each have your own room but a shared kitchen. Each month you will receive money for food so that you can arrange your own meals. You will also get a ticket that lets you use all trains and buses (and even rent bikes) for free. The city of Cologne has a good public transport system, so you will be able to get everywhere quite easily.
TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT
You will receive training in creating RPG approaches that can engage young people and help them train skills. You will have lots of opportunities to grow your own skills and develop in a direction that you choose. We will support you and work with you. We also want you to develop a sense of initiative and decide which of the many project opportunities you want to focus on. For instance, you could choose to put a focus on using RPGs for language learning (working with schools) or as a way to connect youths on an international level in events. You could also choose to train social media skills.
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
Our office language is English because we work in international teams. It might be useful to learn a little German as well. One thing that is important for us is teamwork. We want to create work structures in which several volunteers grow into efficient teams. See it as an opportunity to have a major impact on creating something like an RPG publisher and helping hundreds of young people. Possible tasks: organizing RPG events working with schools (language learning, social learning, training of skills) creating RPG concepts creating a magazine social media creating YouTube videos etc.
