PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The “Hort” is an after school centre which is an additional offer for families, who need a daily care for the children after the lessons until 5 pm and even during holidays (9am-5pm). The” Hort” is located in the school building of the Christian primary school. 40 children take part in the program. 4 staff care for children during the lunch-time; help them with their homework and offer several projects in the afternoon. Offers: – Free and guided play – Project work (to plan celebrations (e.g. Easter, Pentecost, Christmas, Children’s Day, Mother’s Day) – Nature and environmental awareness – Homework – The “Hort” is involved in all-day offers of the school e.g. Musical, Acrobatics, Flute, sport, Chess, handicrafts and more. – Christian offers: Regular devotions, prayer before eating Tasks: – to play with the children – to start new activities or do sport – to care for the children during lunch or in the garden
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteer will live together with other EVS volunteers in a shared flat in the immediate project vicinity. Lunch is provided in the school. For the other meals the volunteers will get money for food. Through short distances in the city the volunteers get a bicycle.
TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT
The volunteer takes part in an appropriate language course. They can also take part in seminars about youth work organised by the YMCA.
