Poland Short Term ESC European Solidarity Corps Macher in Yiddish is “an important guy”, the one who not only “does” things, but also bristles with energy to act. It is a dynamic person – not only has great ideas, but also actively pursues them. In Yiddish, “a macher” refers to an important person who has an influence on their surroundings – a real influencer. A Macher is also a volunteer of the Jewish Culture Festival, who helps us to create the Festival in summer. All the Machers are also invited to develop their own projects, in order to learn, gain experience and make new friends. For the whole month, Krakow will be your second home, whilst other volunteers and co-coordinators –your closest persons. It will be the time for experiencing multiculturalism and for seeing how beautifully we can differ from each other, still making up a coherent and well-functioning community. ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

We are covering all cost of you accomodation food and travel: We are buying return flight / train tickets to and from Krakow for you. Volunteers will be accommodated in twin dorm rooms booked specially for them, located in Kazimierz. This is a modern dormitory opened in 2020. Each room has an ensuite bathroom, small fridge, electric kettle, most of them also have a large balcony. Also you will receive money for the whole month to cover daily food expences In case of any trips during program we are paying for buses or train to travel.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

Before Festival all volunteers will take part in every-day program prepared especially for them. The main goal of the project is to activate the potential of the volunteers – we want to improve their skills and competences in the field of personal, educational, social, civic, cultural and professional development through participation in the Festival and the preparatory program, as well as to contribute to the building up of civil society. You will take part in: workshops and meeting about multiculturalism, artistic intervention, visits in cultural instituton and many more 😉

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

Who are we looking for? People who can communicate in English, available between June 10th and July 10th, 2022 and open and ready for action! You will be part of one of the most important cultural events in Poland and one of the largest Jewish culture festivals worldwide. You will also participate in the pre-festival events for volunteers. You can rely on the support of the coordinators, who will help you with their advice, sharing their experience with you. Outside your working time, you will have an opportunity to take part in all the Festival events free of charge.
