Finland 2 Weeks ESC European Solidarity Corps

Finland 2 Weeks ESC European Solidarity Corps Local Action Group (LAG) Nouseva Rannikkoseutu develops rural areas across seven municipalities in Northern Finland. In this project, a team of 15 volunteers will work in tasks related to nature, local culture and youth work. The project takes place in the small village of Lampinsaari. Volunteers will participate in the core activities of the local village association. Tasks include e.g. maintenance of the nature trail and recreational areas; planning and implementing activities for local children and youth; and creating and participating in communal and cultural events. The volunteers will also have a chance to learn from local traditions (the village was originally built as a residential area for workers of local mine in the 1950s). Working days are usually from Monday to Friday but some activities may also require work during weekends. ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

Volunteers will live in a house with shared bedrooms. Some meals may be provided, and volunteers receive food money to prepare meals by themselves. Within the village the distances are short and transportation will be provided when needed.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

The volunteers will participate in a short on-arrival training at the beginning of the project, and mentoring will be provided throughout the project. Volunteers are guided to all tasks. The volunteer’s personal skills or interests will be considered and discussed before the project.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

We would like to receive active volunteers who are motivated to work outdoors and especially with children and young people. Working hours will change according to tasks, so volunteers need to be flexible. Volunteers must be prepared to live in rural environment.
